Travel Tips
Identification: Be careful leaving valuables, purses and especially IDs unattended in meeting rooms and hotel rooms. At a minimum, make a copy of your driver’s license or passport so if it were lost, officials could identify who you are.
Passports: For attendees traveling from overseas, do not carry your passport with you once you arrive at the Convention Center in Orlando. Make a copy of your passport and carry it. Leave your passport at the hotel in a secure, hidden location. If the room you are staying in has a safe, lock it in the safe. If it doesn’t, consider leaving it in the hotel safe.
Cash: Do not carry all of your cash with you. Always leave enough cash in your hotel room safe or in the hotel safe to get you through the Congress should you lose your money or be robbed. Also, avoid displaying large amounts of cash or other tempting items.
Outside of the Convention Center
Look for well-lit streets and areas you feel safe in. Select routes that are the shortest between your destination and hotel or conference center but avoid deserted areas. Be observant.
Remove Congress Badge: When you leave an ICE 2016 event at the Convention Center or offsite locations, remove your name badge. This is a sign you are from out-of-town and might be an easy target.
Walk With a Colleague: Remember, it is safer to walk in a group, especially at night.
