Muhammad Ashfaq, (Pakistan), born in 1952. Senior Professor at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan, and Acting Vice Chancellor on a number of occasions. Dr. Ashfaq obtained Ph.D. in Economic Entomology in 1985.
He has been awarded a number of national and international awards, and was an Honorary Post Doctorate from Ibraki University (Japan) during 2007 on the basis of his significant contributions to biological control, a vital component of IPM; in the fight against poverty and hunger in the world. He is also a law graduate and has a good command of national/international law. Prof. Ashfaq has published over 150 research papers of international repute, has written eight books and manuals, of which those on “Environmental Pollution and Agriculture” and “Stored grain Management” have been widely recognised.
He has developed and delivered seven new technologies/patents to improve Crop Production. He is a “Fellow Member” of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences. He has received a “Best Teacher Award (2002)” of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, and a prestigious Civil Award (Tamgha-i-Imtiaz) from the President of Pakistan during 2004.
